Notebooks sometimes have to survive in pretty rugged conditions, and Panasonic addresses this market with its Toughbook range. The company makes fully rugged notebooks that are exceptionally tough as well as semi-ruggedised ones, and the CF-W5 is an example of the latter.
It looks like and ordinary ultra portable, weighs a mere 1.24kg, but has some features which mean it should withstand more knocks and many of its competitors. Thin and light, it is not as tough as as it could possibly by, but it is a compromise between truly toughened and portable.
