The Treo 680 is Palm's first Palm OS Treo for a considerable time and it has some good things going for it such as the ability to view SMS messages as 'threads' so you can follow a conversation through its logical sequence, and the superb web browser and email software.
I can't help being drawn to the annoyances, though. I had hoped Palm could have made a few more innovations such as upping the number of pixels on offer in the screen and improving the quality of the camera from what we'd seen in the old Treo 650, and I really wish they'd been able to add Wi-Fi and bundle more than just a simple mono earbud that uses a 2.5mm headphones connector.
Still, as it stands the Treo 680 remains one of the most ergonomic smartphones to use one-handed, and a superb little PDA.
