A conventional laptop for as little as £249 sounds too good to be true, and in this case I think it is. The Dell Vostro 1310 can be configured at Dell's web site and you may well want to upgrade a few of the specs to make it work for you.
That noted, this is a fairly robust small format notebook, and the ability to tweak its specifications to meet your precise needs could be a real boon.
