Sony Ericsson W380 review published

The W380 is a Walkman branded phone and, quite unusually for a handset in this line from Sony Ericsson, is a clamshell.

The overall design is rather angular and doesn't appeal that much to me, but that is a matter of personal taste so you may like it. There is a front facing letterbox style OLED display which sits across the phone in wide format, and beneath it are music control touch buttons comprised of raised pimples. They work, but I am not sure I like them a great deal.

The same can be said for the 'gesture control'. There is a light under the camera on the front of the casing. It comes on when a call is incoming or an alarm goes off. You wave your hand over the light to dismiss either.

These are fancy features for a budget handset, and there is more going on besides. I'm just not convinced, given Sony Ericsson's recent examples of good design, that this is a worthy addition to their range.
