The MyPal A696 is a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC with built in GPS antenna.
It is in some respects a bit behind the times. Many handhelds are moving to the more capable Windows Mobile 6, and many also integrate SIM support which is not present here.
However, it is difficult to fault the equipment itself. It has a large screen, good dedicated hardware controls for the satnav element of the device, and it functions as a Windows Mobile handheld should. There is more than 190MB of free memory before satnav software is included and an SD card slot for adding more. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both built in, and the price is attractive.
