Samsung Q40 ultraportable notebook review published

This tiny ultraportable notebook comes complete with HSDPA support and it weighs less than 1.2kg. An optical drive comes with it, but you need to carry that separately if you want to use it, as it isn't integrated into the casing. Still, without the drive you can tuck this little machine in a bag and barely notice its weight.

The widescreen format is welcome, as is the lack of fancy buttons on the keyboard. It is fine for no nonsense touch typing.

Interestingly you get two batteries with the Q40, a 3-cell and a 6-cell unit They've got neat little buttons on them which when pressed illuminate between one and five lights to indicate how much charge they have in them. Samsung says you can get up to 9 hours' life by using both batteries, which should see most of us through a working day.
