T-Mobile Ameo review published

T-Mobile's Ameo is quite a special Pocket PC.

Physically it stretches the format further than I've seen it stretched before having a screen that measures a massive 5-inches corner to corner and a separate keyboard that is locked in place by magnets.

It really packs in the features too. There is 8GB of flash memory plus support for miniSD, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a camera. And it is a 3G voice and data communications device. The Opera browser lets you open separate web pages in tabs. You can even scroll through web pages just by tilting the Ameo which is rather fun.

But is it practical? For voice calls it is a brick to hold to the ear. For video calling it is superb, with large windows for viewing yourself and the caller. The utility of the Ameo depends on what you want to do with it.
